AAPL has formalised its
approach to the development of key performance indicators (KPI).
Departmental KPI¡Çs as well as individual performance deployment
plans are now directly derived from President Yazaki¡Çs policy.
Corporate KPI¡Çs that
apply to all departments are developed within the Corporate
Sustainability team and cover Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),
as well as specific targets for Environment, Health and Safety and
Information Security. Each department is also expected to adhere to
its leave and training plans, obtain a certain housekeeping target
in line with the Japanese 5S philosophy and participate in AAPL¡Çs
strive for continuous improvement by utilising the tailor-made
Kaizen system.
Based on the
corporate policies, the corporate KPI¡Çs, the budget, overall
corporate requirements as formalised by each senior manager, each
department develops individual KPI tracking sheet that is updated
monthly. Departmental KPI¡Çs are reviewed weekly on a rotational
basis with two additional major reviews per year.
This approach fosters
transparency and communication and allows AAPL to react to certain
trends and developments quickly. Significant deviations from the
aspired business performance, regardless of organisational function,
are also discussed at our ¡ÆRed Items¡Ç management reviews.
As can be seen from
the organisation chart, AAPL¡Çs five volunteer committees report to
the Corporate Sustainability Department. In this way corporate
information and focus areas are communicated to the teams and
management support is provided. At the same time AAPL provides a
communication channel from the bottom up allowing for individuals
from all levels of the organisation to influence the operation of
the business.
Stakeholders are
encouraged to provide feedback regarding any business activity or
aspect of the organisation and engage in the corporate governance
process via AAPL¡Çs website at
