 AAPL wins 2005 EDN Innovation Award


AAPL has won the prestigious 2005 EDN Innovation Award.

Our submission gInstrument Cluster Test Toolh has been declared the winner in the category "Best Application of Benchtop Test Instrumentation." Early in April our submission was selected as one of the finalists and last week the judging panel has announced that we have won this category.

EDN Innovation awards are presented every year (this is the inaugural year) after a call for submissions from all over Australia.

AAPL wins the 2005 EDN Innovation Award

As a leading magazine for Australiafs electronics design community, EDNfs award program has been established to recognise excellence in Australian Electronics and to reward the companies and individuals producing innovative electronics in the country today.

The EDN Innovation Award Contest highlights:

  • Open for submission from all over Australia
  • All companies with significant design operation and/or manufacturing facility and/or testing presence in Australia, eligible to enter
  • Main Sponsors - National Instruments, AEEMA, EIA (Electronics Industry Association)
  • Category Sponsors - Agilent Technologies, Braemac, Adilam, Soanar and Arrow
  • Awards judged by a panel of experts from industry, research and academia

Judging Criteria:

  • How the equipment is used to solve data acquisition, analysis and test problem
  • Evidence of skilled methodology, maximum use of equipment's capabilities
  • Evidence of how the test function helped in product development
  • Leveraging of technology
  • How the equipment adds value to the tested product

This award is an excellent way of getting rewarded for the effort and hard work we have put in over the past year. Special mention needs to be made of the test team who developed this automated test tool, comprising of Tien Nguyen, Scott van Wykvliet and Matthew Alsop. The test set-up is being used for the software validation of other products which are currently under development.

Some of the other category winners/finalists in the EDN awards are Ford Motor Company, Grey Innovations, Codan, Auslog, Fischer Industries and La Trobe University.

Our entry will appear in the May issue of the gElectronics Newsh magazine.
