 2006 Frankston Sea Festival

The 3rd annual Frankston Sea Festival was held on the weekend of January 21–22, 2006. As in previous years, AAPL was the main sponsor for the event. Once again the weather proved to be a driving force for the low number of visitors over the weekend. With temperatures soaring over 40 degrees Celsius, numbers were down on previous years but those that did attend seemed to enjoy the festival more than ever.

As major sponsor for the Frankston Sea Festival, AAPL had two tents this year with an impressive display of both our manufacturing capabilities and our environmental activities. One of our tents was solely allocated to display the environmental activities. Displays included a plastic seat made of 100% recycled items from AAPL, our support to local groups in their environmental endeavours and of course AAPL's own environmental activities, such as tree planting and our Children's Environmental Art Competition.

The tent also allowed children the chance to put their talents to work and create objects out of 100% recycled goods. They were given to task to create an object out of the items provided and we had many interesting results, with cars, bicycles, guitars and rockets to name a few.

The second tent AAPL commanded was shared with the Frankston Susono Friendship Association. Once again, activities for the children were a big highlight with all visiting the tent given the chance to try their hand at Japanese Calligraphy, Origami, Japanese doll making and kite making.

These activities allowed children and adults alike the opportunity to learn a bit about Japanese culture. For those that were a little weary on their feet, shiatsu massages were available and some yummy sushi demonstrations put on by Megumi restaurant.

AAPL also had a display of car components it currently produces, as well as an impressive array of vehicles that fully displayed our components in use. Many visitors were pleased to find out that that AAPL is a local company manufacturing parts for these cars.

So, despite the heat, once again the Frankston Sea Festival was a wonderful success, mainly because of the wonderful team of volunteers that helped out over the two days and in preparations prior to the event. Without your support and assistance this event would not have been possible. Thank you to everyone from AAPL Management.
